Gatsby’s Eyes In Paris

March 29, 2015

The Great Gatsby has always been one of my favourite books. I find Nick Carraway and Gatsby fascinating. Gatsby’s elaborate illusions and extravagant champagne fueled parties are a world away from Carraway’s life. Oops, I’m now re-living my English A-level essay!

Back to Paris. The all seeing eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg are everywhere, every optician has a set and they really caught my eye (how punny). I took a snap of every pair that I passed and gathered quite a collection.

Now for the look. I’m almost head to toe in TopShop. My gyspy top is the Lace Trim Blouse by Band of Gypises the highwaisted jeans are MOTO Black Joni Jeans and my necklace is the Double Row Open Circle Necklace.

I know it is a little ironic to do an outfit post with Eckleburg watching but he seemed fine with it.

West Indian Bay Bath Oil Recipe

March 24, 2015

My lovely sister Rachael makes bath oils and she recently brought me a bottle from her latest batch. I lit my Heyland & Whittle candles and put on a face mask. It felt like I was floating on a dream cloud! It is so dreamy that I asked her for the recipe so that you guys can try it too.

Bath oil recipe for a 50ml bottle:

  1. Fill ¾ of the bottle with sweet almond oil
  2. Add 30 drops of clove bud, 30 drops of West Indian bay, 30 drops of rosemary, 20 drops of lavender, 15 drops of peppermint and 15 drops of eucalyptus
  3.  shake really well.

You will need a tiny funnel and the bottles that you choose need to be coloured glass to protect the oil from sun damage.

Rachael gets her oils from Amazon and says that they are a little expensive but well worth it, and I agree!

Mother’s Day Outfit

March 15, 2015

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing Mums out there, I hope that you had a lovely day celebrating the inspiring women in your life. I headed to Chester with my Mum and sister and we had a beautiful time. We ate pizza, drank wine and planned our next trip away!

As winter is finally coming to a close I picked out a lighter outfit and popped on my shades. Hey, I live in Manchester, I’ve got to make the most of every hint of a sunshine no matter how big or small. Meet my new spring mac, she is from Topshop and you can find her here. My sunglasses were a charity shop find but Seafolly do a really similar pair, my leggings and top are from Zara.

I love treating my Mum on Mother’s day and this year I took her a box full of goodies including: Neroli and Rose Candle in a Tin by Heyland & Whittle  (the smell is so comforting and familiar) Wild Lemongrass Reed Diffuser by Heyland & Whittle for her seaside holiday home and Batik Apron by Khmer Creations.

Here is my Mum modeling her new apron, she was so touched to hear that it was handmade by a woman in Cambodia who has been affected by human trafficking. The company teach women skills such as sewing and provide them with sustainable jobs in a safe environment.
