Well hello there and happy Sunday! Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I feel particularly joyful because around the time of my last birthday I was recovering from my heart operation and things were a bit more somber. So ‘cheers’ to that being behind me, I am incredibly thankful for everything this year has brought me.

I spent the day getting spoiled by my lovely friend Kate (AKA Sole Satisfaction) eating tiramisu and soaking up the sunshine before heading out for more spoiling with my love.

I woke up the best way possible on my birthday. With Nick singing happy birthday, handing me gifts and cards from loved ones. We opened them and had breakfast in bed whilst listening to the new Paramore album and video-calling my Mum. She told me stories of me and my sisters when we were kids and we laughed about old times. This is a pretty significant birthday as it’s my last one as a Miss so we were feeling quite reflective. It feels crazy after so much planning that the wedding will actually be here really soon, it’s such a magical and exciting time.

Kate and I took these pictures on the afternoon of my birthday. We’d just had brunch at Lykke one of our favourite sunny spots and Kate had surprised me with balloons along with all sorts of thoughtful gifts. We took a stroll in the sunshine down towards Urban Spree where these photos were taken, stopping to look in the little independent boutiques along the way. The street art in this area of Berlin is incredible, if you haven’t been yet it’s a must see. And when the weather is nice there are some amazing beer gardens to kick back and relax in- which we obviously did with a glass of bubbles in hand.

If you’ve been to Berlin, if you’ve witnessed its nightlife and its fashion scene, you’ll have noticed a lot of the colour black. And this bell sleeved dress from ASOS is anything but black. But I absolutely love it and felt super comfortable. If you can’t wear every colour under the sun with bell sleeves on your birthday, when can you? The sunglasses were a charity shop purchase about four years ago and I’ve had soooo much wear out of them. My clogs are from office and were a gift from my Mum – thanks Mum! (she has a pair to match).

I had such a good day and am so glad that I was able to get some happy snaps of my outfit to share here. It’s been too long and I really enjoyed taking them. Speak soon!

Pretty Poinsettia Christmas Dress OOTD

November 20, 2016

What says Christmas better than a poinsettia print dress with glittery boots and a red lip? Say hello to my new Xmas party look, all that’s missing is a sprinkle of snow and a red bow to complete the festivities.

I am so excited about heading home for Xmas this year, so much so that I emailed out our home-tour itinerary months ago. With a big family like mine you need to get organised way in advance, and I’m delighted to say that the organising paid off, as we will get to see almost everyone this year!

One thing that I am particularly excited about is introducing my Mum and sisters to my wedding dress! That’s right, I think I found the one…

The slew of Christmas and New Year’s parties you’ll have to attend this season will likely require you to do a little shopping. And of course, in addition to adding a few dresses and accessories to your wardrobe, you’re going to need a few new pairs of shoes for your collection. Here is a little guide to shoe buying over the festive season…

First, invest in a new pair of heels. Even if you’re not a fan of high heels, formal holiday parities deem them a season necessity. She Knows created a list of the top 10 heel styles that are expected to be the most popular this season. Among the collection is a stunning pair of peep-toe pumps, a pair of “shooties” (part boot, part shoe), and some classic Mary Janes. Not surprisingly, red was a popular color, but other hues and patterns, such as blue suede, leopard print, and glittery metallics presented equally attractive options. Thankfully, most pairs on the list are pretty budget friendly, so a second pair isn’t out of the question!

Secondly, you should find a pair of ballet flats because all of that dancing can take its toll on your toes. Festive colors like red and green make them perfect for the holidays, and they’re versatile enough to complete dozens of outfits during the season and long after it ends. Pair them with dresses, pants, or skirts, and they’ll always look great. Better still, they’re easy to fold up into a average-sized purse and pull out anytime you’ve had enough of your uncomfortable heels. Check out the compilation of flats from Vogue to see some of the season’s most popular styles.

Finally, find yourself a pair of over-the-knee boots. They might be a little out of place during a family dinner, but they’ll make an amazing addition to a hot New Year’s Eve outfit, or during a night out revisiting with old friends from school. If you take a look at the different designer shoe offerings on Lyst, you can how most of the top names in the industry are sticking to either brown suede, or different black fabrics. Brown might have been a good choice a few months ago, as it’s a popular color for Autumn. However, at this point in the season, you’ll probably get a lot more use out of a solid black pair.

After shopping for others all season, you deserve a few goodies for yourself. Plus, finding a few amazing party shoes is a surefire way to put yourself in the holiday spirit.

Happy shopping!

I recently attended a party hosted by ASOS at Bikini Berlin Garden. Naturally the guests were all looking absolutely fabulous and so I captured some of my favourite looks to share with you…

Get Your Toes a Tappin’ And Waists a Wigglin’ With The Meyer Dancers

April 21, 2014

Are you ready to take a psychedelic trip to the swinging sixties and back? It is my pleasure to introduce you to The Meyer Dancers, London’s finest GoGo dance troupe.

These sassy femmes have performed at some seriously high profile events. They’ve shimmied on stage with The Sonics, GoGo’d for Gizzi Erskine’s restaurant opening and revelled on the Rimmel advert.

The group got started when lead dancer Treacle was DJing at Soul and mod events while completing dance degree in London. As a fan of 60’s music, fashion and dance, she was keen to recreate the swingin’ vibes of Soul Train and the shimmy-tastic routines from Shindig. So she created The Meyer Dancers, a group of dancers, beautiful women and friends who dig the style and music of the 1960s and 70s.

You have performed alongside 60’s icons such as The Sonics and on stage at huge festivals including Glastonbury, tell us about your favourite show.

There are so many to choose from! We have a residency at The Trip Out Festival, it’s full of psychedelic kittens and far out freaks from around the globe! Everyone brings their swanky motors, gorgeous clobber and dancing shoes. We dance both nights on the main stage to DJs and bands. Last year Estelle, one of the organisers got carried away with our ‘Goldfinger, 1964 ’ costumes and we ended up being painted head to toe in gold by a woman we’d met just ten minutes earlier, in a caravan, in Bedfordshire. Oh, the glamour! We emerged on stage to a buzzing crowd and performed a special edition set of routines. It was so much fun and the best bit is that we are going back this year too, so come and see us!

We also performed at Le Beat Bespoke with The Trashmen, they are such professionals and their energy was incredible. We had a great routine to Surfin’ Bird and lucky for us, they loved it.

Where do you get your swinging sixties GoGo dancing threads from?

We are big fans of charity/thrift shops and a dig a good jumble sale. For particularly special costumes we love a butchers round Paper Dress Vintage, East London’s most happening haunt. You can often see us dancing in the window, Go Go boots clad!

Who are your modern day and vintage style crushes?

There is some amazing reproduction stuff out there, we just LOVE Orla Kiely’s new designs for Clarkes. Treacle is a huge fan of Goldie Hawn, Barbarella and Raquel Welsh, we have modelled costumes on all them.

Where do you go/what do you do when you are in need of a little inspiration?

When in need of inspiration we just play each other records, there’s always exciting new songs to find and share, see our Facebook page for more. We’re diggin’ this at the moment.  Then we normally have a G&T, flutter on some lashes, do some industrial back combing and head on out.

We all love to dance and the best bit about going to a new club night is getting us all together for a night out! The New Untouchables run excellent MOD events but we are also all big Soul fans. Meyer girls Shelley and Grace are both singers too so we love going to their gigs.

To get your toes tappin’ and waists wigglin’ The Meyer Dancers have shared their Spotify performance playlist with us, go grab yourself a G&T and hit play

The Legacy of The Lucy in Disguise Dress

February 22, 2014

Sarah Owen and her sister Lily Allen opened a vintage boutique named Lucy in Disguise back in 2010.

I had seen the Channel 4 series From Riches to Rags, which followed the pair as they launched the store and I developed a style crush on Sarah.

She wore the most exquisite array of rare Ossie Clark dresses and looked utterly fabulous in every episode.

I popped into the boutique to try on some dresses and fell head over heels in love with a £600, one of a kind vintage dress.

Since trying on the dress I spotted it in Hello magazine, modeled by Myleene Klass and a friend forwarded me the picture below of Lily wearing it at V-festival. Nice hat, Lily.

As if to tempt me further, said dress is now on the homepage of the Lucy in Diguise website! Can you spot it on the brunette at the back?

The dress certainly has history and it’s safe to say that it isn’t a piece of disposable fashion. Perhaps it is worth the £600 after all?
